The science ship you get as a result looks like an Unbidden, but the actual event that can increase the Unbidden is something called 'Wanderlust'. It's an event that fires on its own, early in the game, rather than from an anomaly. To give you an idea of its rarity, in 800 hours I haven't had Wanderlust happen.Not destroying the ship increases the chance of the Unbidden showing up and makes it earlier. Or it used to. Not sure if they changed it. If you're not a ME or Hivemind accepting the ship will create a new faction of xenophiles I think.
